Vidovdan Under Fire: Stevandić’s No-Holds-Barred Critique!
Vidovdan, a day that has stood for centuries as a sacred symbol of Serbian pride, is now under attack and destruction, warns Dr. Nenad Stevandić, President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska. While our ancestors celebrated heroes and guarded honor, today, Stevandić says, on Vidovdan people are shooting at their own country, destroying streets and squares, and some even call for the assassination of the Serbian president and his family.
Where Has the Pride Gone?
Stevandić questions what kind of people teach children to destroy and break instead of teaching them how the state protects and defends its citizens. He stresses that Vidovdan is not a day of hatred but a day of exalted love for one’s country, a day to preserve unity, knowledge, and courage.
Protests and Blockades on Vidovdan?
Ahead of Vidovdan, media reported organized blockades and protests, which some called an attempt at a violent takeover of power. Citizens of Niš, according to the pro-Western tabloid “Danas,” headed to Belgrade to participate in the blockade protest, further heating tensions.
Symbolism and Dangers
Stevandić warns that Vidovdan must not be exploited for discord and conflict but should be a day reminding us of unity and strength. He calls for cool heads and ready hands but also for the defeat of hatred and division.
Is This the End of an Era?
While Vidovdan was once a day of pride and honor, today it seems those symbols are under threat. Will the next Vidovdan be a day of celebration or conflict? Stevandić’s message is clear: “Let unity once again be the defeat of evil!”
If you think this is just another political story, think again — how many times have you seen symbols and days meant to unite us used to divide? Drop a comment, maybe you have a different take on the whole thing!
