Chaos on Serbia’s Streets: Students Block the City, Car Breaks Through and Sparks Mayhem!

Welcome to the Serbian version of urban warfare! Small groups of students have decided to take over major roads in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, and several other cities across Serbia. Yes, you read that right – students are blocking streets, and the citizens? Some support them, while others desperately try to reach their destinations.

Students on the Streets – A War for Traffic

Blockades have been set up at key locations: King Alexander Boulevard, the intersection near the Faculty of Law, Queen Maria Street, Yuri Gagarin and Gandhi streets, as well as the roundabout near Bogoslovija. Containers and metal fences serve as barricades, and traffic is practically paralyzed. Imagine – the main boulevard in Belgrade turned into a pedestrian zone, but not for tourists, rather because of a student protest.

The Incident That Lit the Fire

Everything came to a head when a car tried to break through the blockade in Zemun. The driver and passenger ignored the metal fence and containers set up by the students. The passenger even got out of the car and moved the fence, which enraged the protesters. When the car started moving, it hit a woman who fell but quickly got up. The students didn’t hold back – they chased the car, caught up with it, and smashed its windows!

Police and Citizens in Chaos

Plainclothes police quickly arrived, detained the driver and passenger, and took them to a police vehicle, but that didn’t calm the situation. Protesters surrounded the police car and didn’t allow the drivers to leave. All this is happening while traffic in other cities is mostly flowing normally, but in Belgrade, it’s a real traffic nightmare.

Where’s the End to This Chaos?

This isn’t just a story about blockades and cars. It’s a story about frustration, about young people ready to take the streets and not back down, and about citizens divided between support and anger. Will the situation calm down, or will the number of blockades and incidents only increase?

Conclusion

If you thought traffic jams in Belgrade were already unbearable, now the situation has escalated to a level no one expected. Students have shown they can stop the city, and the car incident only fueled the fire. The police are in trouble, citizens are in trouble, and you? Are you for the blockades or against? Drop a comment, share your story, or just crack a joke about this traffic madness.

Because let’s face it, in Serbia, the streets are never boring!
