Vidovdan in Belgrade is turning into total chaos! Students gathered under the slogan “See You on Vidovdan” are planning a protest from 6 PM to 9 PM at Slavija Square, demanding what sounds like an ultimatum: calling for early parliamentary elections and ending the gathering in Pionirski Park where students have been camping for months. But wait, there’s more! If their demands are not met by 9 PM on June 28, they are ready to take all measures of civil disobedience. Is this the start of a new revolution or just another student rebellion?
The police and prosecution are on high alert, urging calm and respect for the law, but Police Director Dragan Vasiljević and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić make it clear: violence will not be tolerated! “We will be restrained but will react if forced,” they say. President Vučić expresses concern and warns the state will intervene if necessary.
Tension is already palpable on the streets. Traffic is blocked, and SNS supporters gather in Pionirski Park. Students claim they are not responsible for what happens after 9 PM, but everyone knows the situation is on the edge of explosion. Milan Čanak, son of the well-known Nenad Čanak, was arrested while heading to the protest, adding fuel to the fire.
This protest is not just a student issue but a broader social front. Luka Lalošević from the Student Blockade says they won’t back down until every student gets their faculty back. And Vučić? He claims it’s the end of the “colored revolution” and that violence won’t bring better institutions. But is that really true?
All eyes are on Belgrade this Vidovdan. Will peace prevail or will violence take over the streets? Follow along, comment, and remember — history is made on the streets, but also on keyboards!
