Student Street War in Belgrade: Who Wants to Study and Who Wants to Block?

The streets of Belgrade have turned into a battlefield between two groups of students who can’t agree on anything except one thing – who has the right to take up space and who really wants to study, and who just wants to block faculties. On one side, a group of students gathered in front of the Serbian Parliament, who want to study and spend time peacefully, even organizing a literary afternoon. On the other side, students blocking faculties and causing chaos on King Alexander Boulevard, not allowing anyone to pass who tries to approach those who want to study. To make things crazier, there are riot police cordons in full gear between them, aiming to prevent clashes and control the situation. War veterans have even appeared, standing with the blockers, not allowing passage to Pioneer Park. A cannon shot was heard, and the atmosphere is charged as if a war is going on, not a student protest. All this while citizens support those who want to study, and others wonder – where’s the logic? This situation has been going on for days, with blockades set up at several points on the streets leading to the Parliament. Police and riot police are on site, but peace is fragile and could explode at any moment. If you thought student protests were just about rights and education, think again – this is a real drama with all the elements of conflict, blockades, and tension reminiscent of a war scene. So, what do you think – who’s really to blame here? Those who want to study or those who block? Or maybe someone else? Drop a comment, let’s see whose side you’re on in this madness!
