Here comes the real drama on Serbia’s political stage! Students from FON and the Faculty of Agriculture have raised their voices and called on all true opposition actors to boycott the work of the National Assembly of Serbia. Yes, you read that right – a boycott! And not just any boycott, but a massive one, with mandate resignations and pressure on what they call the illegitimate regime of Aleksandar Vučić. The Ecological Uprising immediately answered the call, while the Democratic Party and New DSS have already been absent from sessions for months. Students blocked traffic in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and other cities, threw containers, and even pelted SNS offices with eggs! The police responded early in the morning, but the students are not backing down.
Why does this matter? Because the opposition, at least part of it, finally seems to be on the same side as the youth. Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta from the Ecological Uprising said they will not participate in assembly sessions until the rights of young people are freed. The Democratic Party clearly stated that the boycott is justified and urgent, as the assembly serves only as a facade for an authoritarian regime. On the other hand, Goran Ješić from the Civic Movement Solidarity called the whole call “nonsense.” Other opposition parties have yet to officially respond.
This is not just another political game – it’s a call for a massive protest against injustice and repression. Students and the opposition together demand elections and freedom. Will the rest of the opposition join or stay on the sidelines? Will Vučić’s regime buckle under pressure? One thing is clear – this is just the beginning of a major political storm in Serbia. What do you think? Is boycotting the assembly the right path or just another show for the public? Drop a comment, let the people’s voice be heard!
