Did you hear what Jürgen Klopp said? He called the Club World Cup “the worst idea ever implemented in football.” But Arsène Wenger, FIFA’s Director of Global Development, couldn’t stay silent!
Clubs Want This Tournament!
Wenger clearly disagrees with Klopp. According to him, if you ask all the clubs that participated, 100% would say they want the tournament to continue. So, who’s wrong here? The fans or Klopp? Wenger claims the attendance and interest were much higher than expected, proving the tournament is successful and necessary.
Heat? No Big Deal!
Criticism about the high temperatures in Qatar? Wenger says the heat impact was “very minimal” and that temperatures are now similar to Europe. If it gets too hot, matches can start earlier, and stadiums have retractable roofs. No excuses for poor organization!
Every Four Years, Just Like the World Cup!
Wenger confirmed the Club World Cup will be held every four years, just like the FIFA World Cup for national teams. The next tournament is set for 2025, with Spain, Brazil, Qatar, the USA, and Saudi Arabia as candidates to host.
