An international team of researchers led by scientists from the Faculty of Science in Zagreb has successfully synthesized a new material called murunskite, which possesses unique magnetic and electronic properties. Although the material has a completely disordered structure, it exhibits perfect magnetic orbital order, a rare and scientifically significant phenomenon. This discovery could pave the way for the development of new generations of materials important for quantum technologies, including superconductors and magnetic systems. The research was funded by national and European scientific funds, and the results were published in the prestigious journal Advanced Functional Materials.
