Will Syria Finally End Its War with Israel? Talks, Occupations, and Political Games in the Middle East

Syria and Israel: Is the War Finally Ending or Just Another Political Show?

After nearly 14 years of war, Syria seems to be trying to reset its regional relations, with the biggest focus on Israel. Could two countries that have been enemies for decades move towards normalization? Israeli media report direct talks, and the United Arab Emirates have reportedly established a communication channel between the two states. This all sounds like an extension of the Abraham Accords, which until recently was the main American project to normalize Israel’s relations with Arab states.

But don’t be fooled — the situation is far from simple. Israel still insists on occupying the Golan Heights, a territory it illegally annexed and which is at the heart of the conflict. Israeli Defense Minister Gideon Saar has clearly stated that Israel will not give up the Golan under any circumstances. Syrians are deeply divided — while some are ready for talks, many oppose handing over the Golan Heights to Israel.

Israeli attacks on Syrian territory are frequent, destroying military infrastructure and escalating tensions. The Syrian government demands an end to Israeli aggression and withdrawal from occupied territories, but Israel sets conditions — demilitarization of southern Syria, removal of Iranian bases and groups like Hezbollah.

The situation is further complicated by sectarian tensions, especially in southern Damascus, where Israel threatens intervention to protect Syrian Druze, which many see as a calculated move to sow discord within Syria.

Talks are ongoing, but the reality is that deep hostility and the occupation of the Golan are obstacles not easily overcome. Will Syria and Israel manage to find common ground, or will this be just another political show? Only time will tell.

What do you think? Is this the beginning of the end of the conflict or just another farce? Drop a comment and let the people’s voice be heard!
