Tax Inspectors Crack Down on Missing Fiscal Receipts: Fines Over 5.4 Million Euros!

Montenegro’s Tax Inspectors Are on a Rampage! Between May 1 and June 22, tax inspectors slammed 93 taxpayers with fines totaling a staggering 5,441,000 euros! Yes, you read that right – over five million euros in fines for failing to issue fiscal receipts and violating the law on fiscalization of goods and services.

The biggest culprit? Not issuing fiscal receipts! This blatant disregard for tax discipline and business transparency is hitting the economy hard. Out of all the fines issued, only 53% – about 2,874,000 euros – have been collected. That means nearly half of the fines are still floating in limbo, with taxpayers either delaying payment or pretending not to notice.

The Tax Administration is calling on everyone to follow the law, properly report income, and issue fiscal receipts. This is the only way to build a stable and transparent business environment in Montenegro. The inspectors are especially targeting hospitality venues, beach bars, and private accommodation providers, who see a surge in business during the summer tourist season and often try to dodge the rules.

This isn’t just routine checking – it’s a full-on war against the shadow economy that’s choking the country’s growth. The Tax Administration has ramped up inspections, focusing on seasonal businesses, and urged citizens to report any irregularities via the call center or the “Be Responsible” platform.

Will this crackdown finally force the irresponsible to pay their dues, or will they keep hiding behind a fog of unissued receipts? One thing’s for sure – tax inspectors aren’t planning to stop, and we’ll be watching every move. Got a story about missing receipts or someone dodging taxes? Share it – maybe your story will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back!

After all, who likes paying taxes? But if everyone cheats, who will build the roads, schools, and hospitals? Think about that next time you ask for a receipt at a café or restaurant. And remember – a fiscal receipt isn’t just a piece of paper, it’s your vote for honesty and fairness in business!
