The Secretary General of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE), Dimitri Kerkentzes, stated that it is common practice for host countries of Expo events to introduce temporary laws and building permits to accelerate the construction of infrastructure related to the Expo. He noted that at Expo 2027 in Belgrade, the country pavilions will have temporary building permits, which is a standard procedure at all Expo events, including those in Japan, the Emirates, and Italy. Additionally, the first preparatory meeting for international participation in the specialized Expo exhibition in Belgrade gathered representatives from over 140 countries, confirming the significance and international character of the event. Expo 2027 in Belgrade will be the first Expo held in the Western Balkans and the largest global event Serbia has ever organized. The theme of the exhibition is “Play: Humanity, Sport, Music, Everything,” with sub-themes emphasizing universal values of cooperation, creativity, and development through play.
