In the night between Saturday and Sunday, the village of Katrga near Čačak was engulfed in a terrifying fire. The blaze consumed the entire Jovanović family farmstead. Neighbors were shocked by how fast the flames spread. Two cows, a car, and about one bale of hay were destroyed. The material damage is estimated at around one million dinars! Firefighters from Čačak’s JKP Komunalac battled the fire for hours to prevent it from spreading further. Workers from zoohygiene removed the bodies of the dead animals. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and authorities are investigating. This tragedy highlights how vulnerable rural areas are to such disasters.
