Have you ever thought that our roads have turned into a death carousel? In the past few days, Serbia has witnessed a string of horrifying traffic accidents that will make you think twice before hopping on a motorcycle or behind the wheel. From Novi Sad to Belgrade, tragedies are piling up, and the number of injured and dead is rising.
On June 27, in Novi Sad’s Mišeluk neighborhood, a collision between a motorcycle and a car left two people seriously injured. A 30-year-old woman suffered severe polytrauma and is currently in the ICU in a hemodynamically unstable state. Is this the price of speed and carelessness?
Just two days earlier, in Dobanovci near Belgrade, a nightmare became reality. A car veered off the road and crashed into a concrete pillar, killing a 16-year-old girl, while two teenage boys aged 14 and 17 were seriously injured and rushed to a children’s hospital. Is this yet another proof that our roads are unsafe for the youngest?
And it doesn’t stop there! In the Požega area, two motorcyclists were injured in separate accidents. One of them was even riding a motorcycle with invisible license plates, which raises serious questions about law enforcement and road safety.
These tragedies are not just numbers. They are lives, families in pain, and a question we all need to ask: what is going on with road safety in our country? Isn’t it time to finally take this problem seriously?
