Imagine this – while half a million people are gearing up to fill Zagreb’s Hippodrome for Marko Perković Thompson’s concert, a company named Skymusic has to publicly declare that they have nothing to do with the event! Yes, you read that right! Skymusic issued a statement claiming that neither their expert staff nor technical equipment are involved in this concert, and that they have never participated in any Thompson concert before. Yet, some media outlets spread the opposite information! Who’s fooling who here?
But wait, there’s more. While some are singing Thompson’s songs and celebrating, others are up in arms over alleged Ustaša chants and fascist slogans heard at the concert. Influencer Nika Ilčić, known for her sharp remarks, ironically announced she’s leaving Zagreb because of the concert, calling Thompson’s fans “more patriotic than they actually are.” She didn’t hold back, adding “long live HDZ, long live fascism,” and claimed Serbs enabled the concert while Croats were too expensive. Political drama or just another social media circus?
Meanwhile, in Split, the parish of Saint Joseph Mertojak is organizing a mass at the same time as the concert, inviting believers to pray for unity and harmony of the Croatian people. According to organizers, around half a million tickets have been sold, making it the biggest concert in the history of independent Croatia.
All in all, as Zagreb prepares for the biggest music spectacle of the year, tensions rise, false information spreads, and social media is ablaze with comments and reactions. Is this just a concert or a political battleground? You decide! And if you have a hilarious comment or conspiracy theory, you know where to drop it – in the comments below!
