Thompson’s Zagreb Concert: Spectacle or Chaos? Everything You Didn’t Want to Miss!

When Marko Perković Thompson takes the stage at Zagreb’s Hippodrome, you know it’s going to be a spectacle to remember! But was it just a concert or a full-blown drama with thousands of people, emotions running high, and a mountain of trash left behind? Renowned musician Denis Dumančić didn’t hold back praise for the production and energy of the concert, calling it a “concert to remember” with world-class production. Although Thompson was absent from the stage for two years due to his son Ante Mihael’s illness, his emotional song “Sine moj” (My Son) moved the audience to tears, with his son being the biggest fan and the driving force behind his comeback.

The concert gathered thousands of people from Croatia and beyond, including fans from Russia, Germany, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Bulgaria, making it the largest music event of its kind in Croatia. Organizers thanked everyone who helped with the event, including police, emergency services, and firefighters.

But not everything was rosy! While thousands enjoyed the music, others were busy collecting bottles and cleaning up the trash left on the streets of Zagreb. Is this the price of a big spectacle? Can we enjoy such events without leaving the city buried in waste?

Denis Dumančić emphasized the importance of supporting local music in a time when it is slowly losing ground due to algorithms, radio templates, and TV neglect. “Local music is our language, our story, our memories. It must not disappear!” he said.

If you were at the concert or just heard about this spectacle, what do you think? Did Thompson manage to combine emotion, energy, and organization, or was this just another chaotic event with a pile of trash? Share your thoughts, maybe even a funny concert story — events like this never leave anyone indifferent!
