Three earthquakes hit Santorini within seven minutes, with the strongest measuring 5 on the Richter scale. The first quake of 4.2 occurred at 8:09, followed by a 4.3 at 8:11, and the strongest at 8:16. The epicenter was 21 km northeast of the village of Oia, at a depth of 14 km. Hundreds of earthquakes above 3 on the Richter scale have been recorded in the area for days. More than 10,000 people have left the island due to the earthquakes.
