Imagine life in Novi Sad during the 90s! Famous singer Tijana Bogićević openly talks about a time when financial struggles were a daily reality. They moved often, lived as tenants, and their sneakers were so torn that they patched them with plastic bags to keep their feet dry. Meat wasn’t on the menu every day, and juices were diluted to last longer. Even though her family was educated – dad was a mechanical engineer, mom an artist – life was a disaster. But despite all that, Tijana developed a passion for music and never let anything stand in her way. She remembers riding bikes and hanging out, even though they didn’t have new sneakers. It wasn’t easy, but it was normal.
In another interview, Tijana recalls growing up in Novi Sad, where she was a neighbor and school friend of Nataša Bekvalac. Although both singers come from the same city and profession, there was no rivalry. Tijana describes her hometown as a place where she felt free and safe, with a special place in her heart for the Petrovaradin Fortress, where her mom had a studio. Despite going through tough times, including losing her mother last year, Tijana remains strong and dedicated to music.
