Tonći Tadić Exposes Milanović’s Nonsense on Ukraine: Is the President Kremlin Connected?

President or Pro-Russian Propagandist?

Zoran Milanović, the President of Croatia, has once again shocked the public with his statements about Ukraine. While the Croatian government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs support Ukraine and its membership in the EU and NATO, Milanović acts as if he is on a different planet—or worse, as if he is directly connected to the Kremlin.

Analyst Tonći Tadić does not mince words: he calls Milanović’s statements a “concentrate of anti-Ukrainian pro-Russian propaganda.” The President claims that Ukraine is a country at war with clearly defined territories but is unable to finance its own defense. He says it is a “brazen insult” to say that Ukraine is closer to EU membership than Montenegro or North Macedonia, which, according to Tadić, is not only false but insulting to those countries.

Milanović goes so far as to accuse the EU and NATO of “ruining Ukraine” with their aid, while ignoring the fact that Ukraine successfully resists a more powerful Russia thanks to that very aid. Croatia has sent Ukraine about 100 million euros in direct humanitarian and military aid over the past three years.

Hypocritical Peacemaking and Dangerous Games

Milanović’s stance that Ukraine would be better off if aid were withheld and forced into peace on Vladimir Putin’s terms is not only dangerous but hypocritical. This would mean Putin could continue the war, killing, raping, and looting without resistance. Tadić warns that such “peacemaking” is nothing but support for Russian aggression.

The President of Croatia, who once worked in Brussels and was part of Croatia’s NATO mission, now openly expresses contempt for the EU, NATO, and the West. His statements about Ukraine contradict international law and the positions of all EU member states except Russia, Belarus, and North Korea.

Geopolitical Implications and the Balkan Context

Tadić emphasizes that a Russian-dominated Ukraine would cause major problems in the region, including the Balkans. The Serbian world, Dodik’s and Vučić’s plans, as well as Russian money and special forces, pose a threat to stability. A strong Ukraine is, according to Tadić, the best guarantee of security for Eastern Europe, the Baltics, Scandinavia, and the entire EU, including Croatia.

When Will Ukraine Join the EU?

Milanović’s claim that it is a “brazen insult” to say Ukraine is closer to EU membership than Montenegro or North Macedonia shows either ignorance or an intent to sow division. EU accession depends on the country itself and its progress, not insults or political games. Tadić reminds that Turkey began EU accession talks in 2005, the same year as Croatia, yet no one considers Croatia’s membership an insult to Turkey.

Conclusion: Milanović or Kremlin Agent?

Tonći Tadić clearly states that Milanović not only fails to support Ukraine but spreads pro-Russian propaganda and undermines European values with his statements. His contempt for Ukraine, the EU, and NATO is alarming, especially coming from the president of an EU and NATO member state.
