Tragedy at the 25th Drina Regatta: Young Man Drowns, First Death in 25 Years!
The 25th anniversary Drina Regatta in Ljubovija turned into a tragedy no one expected. A 33-year-old man from the village of Grabovica near Ljubovija drowned in the Drina River, on the border of the municipalities of Ljubovija and Bajina Bašta. This is the first fatality in the 25-year history of the regatta, which has gathered thousands of participants and was known for joy and celebration.
According to initial reports, the young man most likely fell from a boat located at the rear of the regatta. Help did not arrive in time, and when emergency services arrived, they could only confirm death. His lifeless body was pulled from the river, and the investigation is being conducted by the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Užice, as the accident occurred in the territory of Bajina Bašta municipality.
