On a night that was supposed to be ordinary, tragedy struck the municipality of Gvozd in Croatia. A young man, only 25 years old, lost his life after falling from a trailer carrying firewood. He was driving an unregistered tractor with an unregistered trailer, and the accident happened when the trailer detached while going downhill. The man died on the spot from his injuries, and his body was taken to the General Hospital in Sisak for an autopsy. Police conducted an investigation, and the case was handed over to the County State Prosecutor’s Office in Sisak.
This tragedy shines a harsh light on serious safety issues in rural areas and irresponsible behavior on the roads. How is it possible that unregistered tractors and trailers are being driven, with people riding on them? Is this just the tip of the iceberg of irresponsibility and lawlessness?
As the family and community mourn the young man, the question arises – how many more lives must be lost before something changes? Will the authorities finally act to prevent such tragedies, or will we keep counting the dead?
