The town of Ljubovija is in mourning after the tragic death of Radiša M., a 33-year-old construction inspector and beloved local from the village of Vrhpolje, during the 25th Drina Regatta. On July 12th, Radiša suffered a fatal heart attack while swimming in the Drina River, leading to his drowning. His death has shaken the entire community, prompting Ljubovija to declare a day of mourning. His funeral was attended by a large crowd of citizens who came to pay their respects to a cheerful spirit and true friend.
Radiša was known for his ever-present smile, readiness to joke, and willingness to help others. His friend Bojan described him as a role model for what people should be. The tragedy occurred when Radiša was swimming with his brother and friends, suffered a heart attack, and drowned. His body was recovered from the river, and the investigation is being conducted by the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Užice.
