Tragedy in New Belgrade: Man Falls Through Elevator Shaft and Dies

Horrific Accident in New Belgrade! A man fell through an elevator shaft in a building under construction and died on the spot. The fall? A staggering 25 meters! Yes, you read that right – 25 meters! That’s not a fall down some stairs, that’s a fall from nearly eight floors up! And it all happened on Omladinskih Brigada street, right in the heart of New Belgrade, at around 10:45 AM.

How does something like this even happen? Did someone forget to cover the elevator shaft? Were safety measures even in place? The investigation is ongoing, but one thing is clear – this tragedy could have been prevented.

While Belgrade struggles with daily accidents, the emergency services have been busy with other incidents too. Just the day before, three people were lightly injured in three separate traffic accidents in Belgrade. Overnight, emergency teams responded to 25 interventions in public places, mostly from chronic patients.

This tragedy casts a dark shadow over construction site safety and public space security. Will the authorities finally take action to prevent such accidents? Or will we keep watching people fall through openings and perish?
