A boy from Uljma tragically died after entering a canal to cool off but was unable to get out of the water. The accident occurred in the afternoon near the DTD canal in Vlajkovac. The boy was with friends when, due to high temperatures, he decided to swim in the canal. Shortly after entering the water, he disappeared before the eyes of those present. A search was immediately launched, and the body was found later. Although canals like DTD may seem harmless, they are unsafe for swimming due to strong currents, muddy bottoms, and lack of supervision, which can endanger the lives of even physically fit individuals. The summer period is particularly risky as such accidents become more frequent. Parents and young people are urged to be extremely cautious and avoid swimming in unregulated waters.
