Around 10:30 PM last night, a tragic traffic accident occurred on the regional road Prnjavor – Srbac, where a 61-year-old pedestrian, Š.N. from Gornja Ilova, Prnjavor municipality, lost his life. The accident involved a VW Transporter driven by D.V. from Babanovci, which struck the pedestrian. The on-site investigation was conducted by the duty prosecutor and traffic police officers. An autopsy has been ordered, and all necessary investigative measures are underway. This tragedy has deeply shaken the local community.
This is not an isolated incident in the region. Recently, near Knin in Croatia, a 38-year-old driver of a car with Serbian license plates died in a collision with a fire truck. The accident was caused by excessive speed and poor road conditions. Additionally, in Belgrade, three traffic accidents occurred overnight, resulting in minor injuries to three children, including a 10-year-old child injured in a chain collision on Čukarička padina.
These tragedies highlight serious road safety issues in the region. Drivers often disregard traffic rules, and pedestrians remain the most vulnerable road users. While police and prosecutors are taking action, it is clear that greater attention and responsibility from all road users are urgently needed to prevent such heartbreaking events.
If you think road safety is just a matter of luck, think again. Every life lost on the road is a tragedy that could have been prevented. So, what do you think – who’s to blame for these accidents? Are you driving carefully, or do you sometimes push the limits? Share your thoughts; maybe your story could save a life!
