A horror that shook Zaječar and all of Serbia! Exactly one month ago, a little girl of only three years old lost her life in a horrific car accident on the Niš–Svrljig road near Mačva. The accident happened in the night of June 10th, around half past midnight, when two vehicles collided – a Fiat driven by a family of four and a Seat driven by a 22-year-old man from Zaječar. The investigation revealed that the Fiat driver crossed into the opposite lane and directly collided with the Seat. Little Mila, the girl who lost her life, left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her five-year-old sister, mother (34), and father (35) were seriously injured and hospitalized at the Clinical Center in Niš. The mother suffered severe abdominal injuries, fractures of both femurs and the right forearm, while the father was diagnosed with contusions of the liver and lungs, broken ribs, a broken right foot, and an open wound on the right lower leg. The five-year-old sister sustained facial and eye injuries, and the Seat driver suffered superficial injuries to the head, chest, abdomen, and knee. Traffic on this section of the road was blocked for several hours due to the investigation. The family had set off for the seaside that evening, but instead of a holiday, they were met with a tragedy that cast a dark shadow over everyone. A relative of the tragically deceased girl emotionally expressed her pain on social media, recalling her smile and gentle hugs. The funeral was held on June 14th at the village cemetery, and the memory of Mila lives on in the hearts of all who loved her. This tragedy is yet another reminder of how dangerous our roads are and how important it is to obey traffic rules. We can’t help but wonder – what caused this accident? Was it carelessness, speed, or something else? While the family mourns, the rest of us should learn from this tragedy and look out for each other.
