The Turbulent Life of Legendary Singer Ljubiša Stojanović Luis: Three Wives, Six Children, and a Tragic End
Ljubiša Stojanović Luis was no ordinary singer. His life was a true drama, full of love, pain, success, and tragedy. Born on June 25 in Leskovac, Luis grew up in a family where music was in the blood – his mother had an exceptional singing talent, and his father was a master woodworker. But Luis’s life was not just about music – it was a life full of turbulence.
Family and Marriages: Three Wives, Six Children
Luis had three wives and six children. His first wife, Nevena, whom he married at just 21, gave birth to their son Miodrag, who now lives and works in Germany as a football goalkeeper. However, the marriage did not last – they divorced, and tragically, Nevena died during the war conflicts in Slovenia.
His second wife was Dubravka, with whom Luis spent 17 years and had two children – Marko and Maja. Yet, this marriage also ended in divorce.
His third wife, Silvana Stojnić, was 19 years younger than Luis. With her, he had three children – Sergije, Andrej, and Ela. This family was Luis’s eternal proof of love and a life full of contrasts.
Ups and Downs: From Music School to Tragic Death
Luis showed musical talent from a young age. Although mischievous in school and often improvising, he managed to enroll in music school and later the Faculty of Musical Arts in Niš, then continued studies in Belgrade. The path to musical fame was not easy – he worked washing stairs in Germany for 17 marks an hour until he resumed performing.
His career peaked when he and keyboardist Saša Subota held about 50 concerts in Russia, including 17 performances in Saint Petersburg, where 36,000 people listened to them.
Tragedy and Legacy
Luis tragically died on July 31 at the age of 59. His widow went through a difficult period after his death, left alone with three children. Luis was also known for his humanitarian work – he often visited homes for neglected children in Negotin, bringing books, clothes, and musical instruments, which earned him honorary citizenship of the town.
His life was full of ups and downs, love and pain, but left an indelible mark on music and people’s hearts.
