U.S. froze $2B from Russia meant for Turkey’s nuclear plant.

The U.S. Department of Justice has frozen two billion dollars from Russia intended for the construction of the Turkish nuclear power plant Akkuyu, which is being built by the Russian corporation Rosatom. The money was transferred through JP Morgan Bank, and part of the funds could have gone to Russian companies with accounts in the Turkish bank Ziraat. The Akkuyu project includes four energy blocks with Russian reactors, and the first block is scheduled to be operational by 2025.
