Ukrainian Forces Smash Russian Command in Donetsk: Drone War and Strikes Heat Up!
Attack on Command Post in Donetsk – Ukraine Hits Where It Hurts Most!
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are not holding back! Their 24th Mechanized Brigade launched a powerful attack on the command post of the 8th Combined Army of the Russian military in the Donetsk region, under Russian control. This strike, carried out on Monday evening, according to Ukrainian generals, significantly complicates Russian planning and operations on the Pokrovske and Toretsk fronts. In short, the Ukrainians have thrown a wrench in their entire scheme!
Drones: A Nightmare for the Russians
But that’s not all! Ukrainian troops also attacked Horlivka, one of the largest settlements in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), using drones. Two districts in Horlivka were partially left without electricity due to these strikes. Mayor Ivan Prihodko expressed anger over the “Ukrainian armed aggression” that caused chaos. Kamikaze drones attacked Horlivka twice, part of a broader campaign targeting Russian positions and infrastructure.
Russian Losses and Air Chaos
Russia is not giving up without a fight. Its Ministry of Defense announced that during the night it shot down 91 Ukrainian drones, including eight in Moscow and other regions near the Ukrainian border. Still, Russian drone attacks across Ukraine during the night killed at least four people and injured over 30. The attacks hit the regions of Sumy, Odesa, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk. Even Kyiv was targeted, with buildings damaged but fortunately no casualties.
Military Airfields and Warehouses Targeted
Ukrainian special forces didn’t stop there. They attacked the Russian military airfield Borisoglebsk in the Voronezh region, hitting a bomb storage and downing several Russian aircraft. Governor Alexander Gusev confirmed that more than 25 drones were destroyed overnight. Russian sources claim Ukrainian drones were intercepted in the Rostov and Smolensk regions, as well as southwest of Moscow.
Chaos in Russia – Drones Over Moscow!
To make things worse for Russia, Russian air defense shot down four drones heading towards Moscow on July 5, causing a temporary suspension of flights at Sheremetyevo Airport, one of the main airports in the capital. Flights were also halted at other airports, including Pulkovo in Saint Petersburg, for security reasons. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed emergency measures but did not disclose damage details.
What Does This Mean?
The war in Ukraine is fought not only on the front lines but also in the air and at command centers. Ukrainian forces use drones as deadly weapons that disrupt Russian plans and cause damage wherever they can. Russia tries to defend itself, but losses are mounting, and security in Moscow itself is at risk.
This is not just a clash of armies but a war of technology, strategy, and endurance. Who will last longer? Will drones become the new kings of the battlefield? Or will Russia manage to stop this wave of strikes?
So, what do you think? Are drones the future of warfare or just an expensive toy? Drop a comment, maybe you’ll surprise us!
