Ulcinj Solana Workers Aren’t Giving Up!
For the eighth time, workers at the Solana salt factory in Ulcinj have blocked the Ulcinj-Bar highway for two hours! Does anyone in Montenegro even care? Apparently not, because they’ve decided to take their protests to Podgorica, right in front of the Government and Parliament of Montenegro.
What’s going on?
The workers recently met with the Mayor of Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbegu. Two main topics were discussed: the formation of a new company called “Ulcinjska Solana” and the debts owed to the workers. The workers are willing to work for the new company but demand their overdue payments be made as soon as possible. The mayor promised to help speed up the payment process.
Why the protests?
Imagine working for months without getting paid! The Solana workers are exhausted, and their salaries are delayed. Protests have become their only way to be heard. They are giving politicians a chance until September, but if nothing changes, they plan to move the protests to Podgorica, in front of the most important state institutions.
What’s next?
The workers plan to freeze protests until September but don’t believe they will be listened to. If the situation doesn’t improve, they are ready for more radical steps. Will the government finally act, or will the workers remain forgotten?
Conclusion
While politicians bicker, the Solana workers in Ulcinj suffer and fight for their rights. Their struggle is a fight for dignity and justice. What do you think? Is this just another example of how workers in Montenegro are treated like second-class citizens? Or will a miracle happen and someone finally listen? Drop a comment and let’s see whose side you’re on!
This isn’t just a story about Solana; it’s a story about all of us waiting to be seen and heard.
