The number of unemployed in Germany rose to almost three million in January, the highest level in the past ten years. The Federal Employment Agency reported 2.993 million unemployed, an increase of 186,000 compared to December. The unemployment rate rose to 6.4%. Economic weakness is contributing to this trend, and employment growth is losing momentum. In January, 632,000 job vacancies were reported, which is fewer than last year. Additionally, there has been a decrease in demand.
