Unsuccessful Constituting of the Assembly in Pristina

The constitutive session of the Assembly of the provisional institutions in Pristina was interrupted today for the 32nd time as the proposal by the Self-Determination movement for secret voting in the election of the Assembly president was not accepted. The session was opened by the presiding officer Avni Dehari, with 75 deputies present, 45 of whom voted for the formation of a secret voting commission, while other parties including the Democratic League of Kosovo, Democratic Party of Kosovo, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, and the Serbian List refused to propose members of the commission. The Self-Determination candidate for Assembly president, Albuljen Hadziu, did not receive the required majority of votes. The constitutive session has been ongoing since April 15, and no party has enough mandates to form a government independently, leading to months of unsuccessful attempts to elect the Assembly president.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning sources emphasize the political deadlock and the challenges of democratic processes in Kosovo, highlighting the refusal of some parties to participate in secret voting and the implications for governance and minority representation.

Center: Center-leaning sources report the facts of the repeated failures to constitute the Assembly, focusing on the procedural aspects and the distribution of mandates among parties, presenting a neutral overview of the political stalemate.

Right: Right-leaning sources may emphasize the role of the Serbian List and other minority parties in the process, possibly framing the situation as a consequence of ethnic and political divisions, and stressing the difficulties in forming a stable government in Kosovo.
