Ready for another war spectacle? The US has sent dozens of military planes to the Middle East in the past few days, and these are no ordinary planes – at least 52 have been tracked flying over the Eastern Mediterranean. Among them, 25 landed on the Greek island of Crete, which is an eightfold increase compared to the start of the month! Yes, you read that right – eight times more planes than just a few weeks ago.
Out of these 52 planes, 32 are transport aircraft carrying troops and equipment, 18 are aerial refueling planes, and two are reconnaissance. And that’s not all – combat jets, including 12 F-35 fighters, have also been spotted en route to the Middle East, although their flights are usually not publicly announced. Meanwhile, US military presence in the UK has exploded – between June 16 and 19, there were 63 US military plane landings at three key British bases, more than double the previous week.
Security experts like Forbes Mackenzie say this is a “systemic buildup of war capabilities” in the region, unprecedented in scale. So what’s going on? Is the world gearing up for another major conflict? Or is this just another show of power?
Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a meeting with Donald Trump in The Hague, welcomed the ceasefire between Iran and Israel, stressing that the region cannot bear another big war. Erdogan called on all parties to respect the ceasefire and emphasized that diplomacy is the only right path to resolve conflicts. But while Erdogan talks peace, US planes keep flying to the Middle East as if preparing for something big.
This contradiction between diplomatic messages and military buildup is so obvious it’s hard not to wonder – who really wants peace here? And how long will we watch this cat-and-mouse game while ordinary people suffer?
