USAID to lose autonomy, controlled by State Department.

It is planned to revoke the autonomy of USAID and place it under the control of the State Department, which means that all decisions would have to be approved by the Secretary of State. The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Brian Mast, supports this change and is working on securing control over agencies that freeze aid. President Donald Trump intends to freeze USAID’s aid for 90 days while the revocation of the agency’s autonomy is considered. USAID’s decisions would have to be confirmed by Secretary of State Mark Rubio and the executive team.
