How Did They Do It?

According to the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad, from October 2016 to February 2018, the suspects appropriated aluminum scrap from the premises of a company in Loznica. They then sold it to secondary raw material buyers through a network of close relatives and acquaintances. The money from sales was deposited into current accounts, withdrawn in cash, and passed along, creating a complex money laundering scheme.

Who Are the Suspects?

Among those arrested are M.L., B.J., D.N., R.J., B.J., B.N., and I.J. All were detained for 48 hours, and the investigation continues. The Special Department for Combating Corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad is handling the case in cooperation with the police.

Why Does This Matter?

This arrest shows that serious efforts are being made in our region to fight organized crime and corruption. But is 48 hours of detention enough for such serious charges? Will justice be served, or will this be another story lost in bureaucratic labyrinths?
