This year, Vidovdan has become a symbol of chaos and tension in Belgrade. While students from Pionirski Park announce a literary evening and protests, the authorities and police are not standing still – they set up stages, fences, and threaten criminal charges for any attempts to disturb public order and peace.

On one side, students plan to block Slavija Square from 6 PM to 9 PM, demanding early parliamentary elections and removal of tents from Pionirski Park. On the other side, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić clearly states that the ultimatum is not accepted and Serbia does not tolerate ultimatums.

The police are ready to respond to any form of violence, reminding citizens of the criminal consequences of violating public order and peace. The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade appeals for peaceful gatherings but also warns that preparations for violent takeovers of state institutions have been uncovered and will be punished.

In front of the Serbian Parliament building, stages and chairs are set up, the building is fenced off, while columns of Serbian Progressive Party supporters and bikers head towards Pionirski Park, blocking traffic on Branko’s Bridge.

This sounds like a scene from a political thriller, but it is the reality in the heart of Belgrade. Will Vidovdan be a day of peace or conflict? Tensions are at their peak, and citizens are choosing between peace and chaos.

If you have your own take on this madness, feel free to share it – maybe your joke or comment will be the one to break the tension!
