Vidovdan Chaos: Police Injured, Protesters Arrested, City in Turmoil!

Vidovdan in Belgrade turned into a full-blown street battle! The police reported that during the clashes, as many as 48 officers were injured, 77 people were arrested, and 38 detained. Among the injured were 38 members of the gendarmerie, 2 from the brigade, 7 from the intervention police units, and one operative. One officer suffered severe head injuries and a fractured cheekbone, likely from a stone or brick thrown at the police. A massive amount of police equipment was destroyed: 67 helmets, about 50 protectors, 75 shields, and 3 official vehicles. Protesters took off their vests and charged at the police, prompting the use of force. The police had to intervene to restore public order. Among those arrested was one minor, and criminal charges will be filed against 35 individuals. Additionally, 22 civilians were injured, two seriously. The incidents began around 9 PM, with clashes mainly at the corner of Kneza Miloša and Krunska streets. The police used tear gas and armored vehicles to disperse the demonstrators. Police Director Dragan Vasiljević condemned the violence and praised the professionalism of the police forces. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić called for peace and stated that the state is strong.
