Vidovdan and Chaos in the Streets: Vučević with Bikers, and the Rector Supports Blockaders!
Vidovdan, a sacred day for Serbia, did not pass quietly this year. While Miloš Vučević, leader of the ruling party and presidential advisor, rode with Novi Sad bikers to Belgrade to support the Vidovdan literary afternoon, proclaiming “Serbia loves and protects Vidovdan,” a real drama unfolded on the other side.
The Rector of the University of Belgrade, Vladan Đokić, publicly sided with the arrested blockaders whose violent actions caused chaos in the capital. While the state tries to prevent violence and maintain order, the rector and part of the academic community support those who broke the law and blocked the city.
Chaos at the University
The extended rector’s board condemned the arrests and detentions of students, calling them fighters for legitimate demands. However, many professors, like Vladan Petrov and Milan Petričković, argue that Rector Đokić violated the code of conduct by favoring violent offenders, undermining the university’s reputation and encouraging anarchy and unlawful acts.
Violence and Division in Society
While Vučević calls for unity and solidarity, the blockader protests have turned into violent clashes. Experts warn that the protests have weakened, and violence is the only solution for them, deepening societal divisions. Extreme heat waves, economic hardships, and everyday problems of citizens further complicate the situation.
What Lies Ahead?
Vidovdan is a day to remember history and roots, but this year it became a symbol of conflict and division. While the government and opposition play their games, ordinary people watch the country split and violence become routine.
If you think this is just another political drama, think again. This is a fight for Serbia’s future, and the question is who will emerge victorious — unity or chaos?
So, what do you think? Is supporting the blockaders justified, or is it time to put an end to the violence? Drop a comment, let your voice be heard in this madness!
