General Kundid Announces Military Parade for 30th Anniversary of Operation Storm: NATO Countries Confirmed, HIMARS Uncertain!

Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid, Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, announced yesterday in an interview with RTL a spectacular military parade in Zagreb to mark the 30th anniversary of the Military-Police Operation Storm. Now we know what citizens will see and who will attend.

Four Components of the Parade

The parade will have four main components: infantry, armored-motorized units, an air parade, and a naval parade. Infantry will showcase soldiers’ personal equipment and various types of weapons. Armored-motorized units will display combat platforms and systems. The air parade will include all types of helicopters and aircraft of the Croatian Air Force. Naval elements will be shown via video wall, as a physical naval parade in Zagreb is not possible.

Will the American HIMARS System Arrive?

General Kundid could neither confirm nor deny the arrival of the HIMARS system, although it is known that Croatia has purchased these systems. It would be pragmatic for them to appear in the parade since they were introduced this year.

Who is Coming from Abroad?

So far, seven NATO member countries have confirmed their participation. The final guest list is expected within about ten days.

Will President Milanović Drive a Jeep?

According to the current scenario, it is not planned for President Milanović to drive a jeep with Prefect Anušić, but the president will attend the ceremonial stand and receive the report.

Duration and Invitation to Citizens

The parade will last about two hours, and citizens are invited to come and watch this significant event. It will be an opportunity to see the complete equipment and armament of the Croatian Armed Forces.

Surprise at the End of the Parade

General Kundid announced a surprise in the last echelon — a unit equipped with systems that the Armed Forces are just beginning to equip or will equip in the near future.

Security Incident at Udbina Barracks

The general also commented on a recent security incident when three men forcibly entered the Udbina barracks. The incident was serious, but a tragedy was averted. Military facilities are well secured, and guards have the right to use weapons according to the law.

Priorities in Military Equipment

The Croatian Armed Forces plan to strengthen anti-drone capabilities, acquire medium-range air defense systems, sign contracts for two new corvettes, and a new combat tank platform. They are also investing in new technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum technology.

Conclusion

This parade is not just a display of weapons but a message of strength and readiness of the Croatian Army. If you thought the army is only for war, you are wrong — this is also a show for the eyes and proof that Croatia takes its security seriously.

So, what do you think — will HIMARS decorate the streets of Zagreb, or will we see only old tanks again? Write, comment, let the voice of the people be heard!
