Supreme State Prosecutor Refuses Oversight Hearing: Is Justice Really Blind or Just Deaf?

Prosecutorial Independence or Judicial Circus?

Have you ever thought that justice in Montenegro has its secrets? Well, now we know that Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković refused to participate in the oversight hearing scheduled for July 8! Yes, you read that right. He declined to take part in the hearing organized by the Security and Defense Committee of the Montenegrin Parliament.

Why?

Because, as he says, the State Prosecutor’s Office is not subject to the oversight of that committee! Sounds like the judicial system in Montenegro plays by its own rules. Marković claims that his presence at the hearing could jeopardize the independence and integrity of the criminal proceedings. But is this just an excuse to avoid accountability?

What is it about?

The hearing concerns the actions of competent authorities in the case of a suspect who is a member of the security detail of the President of the Montenegrin Parliament. However, the Supreme State Prosecutor says the case is in the prosecution phase and that all complaints about the legality of the prosecutor’s work can only be addressed through the Prosecutorial Council, not parliamentary oversight.

What does this mean for citizens?

Is this another sign that the judicial system in Montenegro operates by its own rules, far from public scrutiny? Is prosecutorial independence just a mask to avoid responsibility?

While justice hides behind the law, citizens remain confused and angry.

If you think this is just another boring bureaucracy story, think again. This is a story about how the powerful can avoid accountability while ordinary people watch from the sidelines.

Now, dear readers, what do you think? Is justice in Montenegro really blind or just deaf? Drop a comment, share your opinion, or just crack a good joke about justice — because apparently, justice in Montenegro has a sense of humor!

Protests Over Roaming Livestock: When Animals Cause Chaos and Authorities Stay Silent

Meanwhile, while prosecutors dodge hearings, residents of the villages Ugnji, Vrela, and Očinići near Cetinje are struggling with the problem of roaming livestock. The livestock freely roaming destroys their properties, endangers safety on the main road to Budva, and causes huge damage.

Residents filed a criminal complaint against Stevo Ilija Kapa for failing to take measures, but institutions do not respond. Ivo Drecun, one of the residents, announced a blockade of the main road if the problem is not resolved by Monday.

This is yet another example of how ordinary people’s problems go unnoticed while battles over oversight and responsibility rage at the top.

Conclusion?

While the Supreme State Prosecutor refuses to appear at the hearing, and residents fight roaming livestock and ineffective institutions, it is clear that Montenegro has a serious problem with accountability and governance.

Independence or Excuse?

In the end, the question remains: is prosecutorial independence in Montenegro truly sacred or just a convenient excuse to avoid oversight? While justice hides behind the law, citizens wonder who is really responsible.

And while we wait for answers, remember — justice may be blind, but in Montenegro, it seems to be deaf too, and impossible to reach without good humor and patience.
