Vučić and the USA: Energy Cooperation or Political Game?

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić recently held talks with Brendan Hanrahan, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Global Affairs of the USA. The topic? Of course, the bilateral relations between Serbia and the USA, with a special focus on strategic partnership and cooperation in energy and artificial intelligence. Vučić highlighted on his Instagram that productive economic cooperation should be the foundation of relations between the two countries.

But is this just diplomatic talk or a real intention? Vučić emphasized that Serbia remains firmly committed to preserving peace and stability in the Western Balkans region and sees dialogue as the only way to resolve open issues and uphold international law. Open and direct communication, according to him, is key to strengthening mutual understanding and trust.

On the other hand, he thanked the USA for continuous support in Serbia’s European integration process but stressed that Serbia wants to improve relations with full respect for its national and state interests. So, Serbia does not want to be just an obedient partner but to look after itself.

This meeting comes at a time when the world faces numerous challenges in energy, and the Western Balkans region is particularly sensitive. Will this cooperation bring real benefits to Serbia or remain just beautiful words? Vučić and Hanrahan agreed that communication is key, but the question remains – how sincere is this communication and will it result in concrete actions?

In any case, while political games continue, ordinary people in Serbia and the region watch and wonder – who will really profit in the end? What do you think? Is this the start of a new era of cooperation or just another diplomatic show? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s for and who’s against this energy and political game!
