Aleksandar Vučić made it crystal clear this morning what he thinks about the blockades that erupted all over Serbia. According to him, the police had full control and the blockade participants didn’t stand a chance. “There were more police officers deployed than those harassing citizens,” Vučić told Pink TV. He slammed the blockades, saying they only destroyed the interests of ordinary people and that the participants themselves don’t even know why they’re doing it—maybe it’s the social media hype. Support for the blockades is plummeting every day because people don’t want to be harassed.
Vučić urged participants to do their jobs and vote as they please but not to infringe on others’ rights. “They throw containers on the streets whenever they feel like it, and that can only kill someone,” the president warned. He gave big props to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dačić, and police director Dragan Vasiljević, saying they bravely and professionally handled a tough job.
When asked about international mediation to resolve the crisis, Vučić was blunt: he doesn’t care what others say. The police broke up most blockades in Belgrade during the morning, and the proposal to ban blockades is still waiting for debate while the opposition promises resistance. The situation is tense, but the government isn’t backing down.
If you thought this was the end of the chaos, think again. Vučić made it clear the police will keep control and won’t allow citizens’ rights to be violated. So, what do you think? Are the blockades justified or just unnecessary harassment? Drop a comment and let’s hear what the people really think!
