Vucic Announces Major German Investor Coming to Paracin: Is This the Salvation for Pomoravlje?

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced at a press conference in Belgrade that a major German investor is coming soon to Paracin, a town in central Serbia located about 130 kilometers south of Belgrade. Vucic emphasized that this is a very important event for the entire Pomoravlje region, including nearby towns like Cuprija and Razanj.

“This is a great opportunity for development and creating new jobs,” Vucic said, but he did not reveal more details about the investor.

This announcement comes shortly after the opening of a factory by the German company PWO Group in Cacak, which Vucic also officially opened. PWO Group is a car parts manufacturer, and Vucic noted that the volume of bilateral trade between Serbia and Germany will exceed 10 billion euros this year. Moreover, for the first time ever, Serbia will have a trade surplus with Germany, thanks to German companies exporting their goods from Serbia back to Germany.

The city of Cacak has already felt the positive effects of investments, with an increased city budget and plans to expand production and create more jobs. PWO Group promised to continue expanding its operations, signaling that German investors seriously consider Serbia as a production destination.

Why is this important?

Pomoravlje has long been an economically neglected area. The arrival of a major German investor could change that picture and bring new life to this part of Serbia. Opening new factories means new jobs, higher wages, and a better standard of living for the local population.

But is everything really that rosy? Critics warn that Serbia still depends on foreign investments that mainly serve export purposes, while the domestic economy does not strengthen enough. There are also concerns that workers might be exploited and profits sent abroad.

What do German investors say?

Carlo Lazzarini, CEO of PWO Group, said that opening the factory in Cacak is a big step for the company and will secure a better future for all residents of Cacak. They plan to expand production and open more jobs, which is certainly good news for the local community.

Conclusion

The arrival of a major German investor in Paracin and the opening of the PWO Group factory in Cacak are clear signs that Serbia is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for foreign investments. However, the question remains how much of this will actually stay in Serbia and how much the local population will benefit.

Is this the beginning of an economic revival for Pomoravlje or just another story of big promises? Only time will tell.
