Ah, Vidovdan 2024 is bringing us yet another spectacle of “state wisdom”! As students announce protests and blockades, President Vučić and Mayor Vučević are already ramping up tensions, promising “state intervention” if violence occurs. Vučić claims the state will “win” on June 28 and no one will be hurt, while Vučević warns that anyone who resorts to violence will be held accountable – but the public seems fed up with these “ultimatums” and “preventing violence.” Violence is, of course, the “main outcome” of the protests, and students are branded as a “colored revolution” with foreign funding. It all sounds like a rerun of political theater where students are the villains and the state the heroic savior. But is it really that simple? Or is this just another attempt to silence the youth? If you think this is just another show for the masses or that the state is overplaying its threats, it’s time to jump in! Comment, rant, laugh, or get mad – but don’t stay silent!
