Gucci’s creative director leaves; brand seeks new direction.

Gucci has announced that Creative Director Sabato De Sarno is leaving the brand after a short tenure. His departure comes following a 25% revenue decline in 2024. De Sarno was tasked with revitalizing the brand but failed to find a balance between minimalism and the excessive luxury for which Gucci is known. His leadership did not succeed in connecting the brand’s past with the needs of contemporary consumers. This change comes at a time when the fashion industry is experiencing significant shifts at the helm of major brands. Gucci is now searching for new leadership.
