Wild Driving and Drugs on Montenegrin Roads: Who’s Next?

During the holidays, the police in Pljevlja and Mojkovac had their hands full! A total of 12 drivers in Pljevlja and three in Mojkovac were fined for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Five drivers were caught with drugs, six of whom are Serbian citizens. One Montenegrin driver received 60 days in prison for driving with 2 promille blood alcohol concentration and driving during a ban. In Mojkovac, two drivers were fined for refusing an alcohol test and driving with 1.2 promille alcohol. In Bijelo Polje, a Serbian citizen was arrested for marijuana possession, while a young Montenegrin driver was fined the maximum penalty for drug use. In the last 24 hours, 14 traffic accidents were recorded in Montenegro, with 77 traffic violation reports filed. Ten people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. At the border, individuals were caught smuggling and possessing drugs. The situation on Montenegrin roads is alarming, and drivers clearly disregard the law and safety.
