Wild Rabbit in the Storm: When Nature Crashes Your Backyard and Causes Chaos

When the storm rages, wild animals panic! In parts of Serbia, two strong storms hit overnight, bringing wind and thunder that forced many wild animals to flee in fear. Among them was a small wild rabbit that ended up right in Kristijan’s backyard. Seeing the frightened rabbit, Kristijan acted fast – he wrapped it in a towel and placed it in a box to protect it. He shared this unusual encounter in a Serbian bird protection group, asking for advice on how to help a scared wild animal in such a stressful situation.

Kristijan has 9 dogs and 11 cats, and his neighbors also have several dogs and cats, so the big question was where to safely release the rabbit. The rain wouldn’t stop, and nature was merciless. People advised him to return the rabbit to the wild as soon as the storm passed because wrapping it up and feeding it isn’t the answer – wild animals aren’t pets! The advice was to avoid giving cabbage, bread, or grains, and only provide water and natural food like dandelion. Also, it’s crucial to avoid areas with many dogs and cats, as the rabbit could easily be harmed.

This event showed just how vulnerable wild animals are during extreme weather and how important it is to respond properly when they end up in human environments. Kristijan’s quick action saved the rabbit from certain death but also reminded us all to respect nature and help it the right way. So, what would you do if this happened to you? Would you let the rabbit go or keep it? Drop your thoughts – maybe your idea will save another life!
