Fire Hell Near Split: Blazes Rage, Firefighters Pushed to the Limit!

As the sun sets over Split, fire rages like never before! Two massive wildfires are tearing through the surrounding areas, and firefighters are battling flames that have devoured tens of hectares of nature. Near Klis, north of Split, a fire broke out in the afternoon and quickly engulfed three hectares of low vegetation. Eighteen firefighters with six vehicles responded, aided by two Canadair water bombers and one Air Tractor. Luckily, no homes were threatened, and the fire was contained by evening. But don’t breathe easy just yet! On the other side, in Kaštel Sućurac, west of Split, the situation is far worse. A fire that broke out the same day was still not contained by evening, forcing firefighters to stay on site all night. Around 35 hectares of low vegetation, grass, and pine forest were destroyed, and the fire was so fierce that two firefighting vehicles suffered minor damage. About 30 vehicles and 34 firefighters, along with three Canadairs, worked tirelessly to douse the flames. Police reported that the fire was caused by a man burning weeds, casting a shadow on responsibility and caution during these dry days. These two fires are just the tip of the iceberg of fire problems in Dalmatia, where drought and winds are perfect allies for spreading flames. Firefighters are the heroes of the day, but the question is how long they can keep up this pace without help and preventive measures. As nature burns, we ask – who’s next? And how many more hectares must burn before something serious changes? Got a fiery take or think you know how to stop this blazing apocalypse? Drop a comment below. This fire isn’t just a firefighter problem; it’s all of ours!
