Wolt delivery workers in Zagreb are on the brink of madness! Their earnings have dropped by about 40%, and working conditions have turned into a nightmare. They used to earn around 700 euros gross for ten hours of work per day, but now, working 12 to 14 hours, they barely make 350 euros net! Yes, you read that right – their pay has literally been halved, and working hours have stretched as if they were slaves, not workers. Protest organizers are announcing a blockade of the Wolt app and demanding the restoration of the delivery price to the previous 2 euros per delivery, as well as fair compensation for kilometers traveled. Currently, the base delivery fee has dropped from 1.90 to 1.37 euros, and bonuses have been cut or eliminated, further destroying delivery workers’ income. Foreign workers, who make up about 80% of the delivery workforce, work through aggregators that impose high costs for vehicle and housing rentals, with many earning less than 500 euros a month while working seven days a week for 12 hours a day. They are threatened with dismissal if they dare to organize or strike. Workers do not have proper health insurance; it only covers them while delivering. Aggregators do not pay extra for working in rain, holidays, or at night, even though customers pay more for these conditions. Because of all this, delivery workers demand the abolition of aggregators and direct cooperation with Wolt to finally stop this modern slavery. If the state does not react, the question is how much longer these people can endure. What do you think? Is this a new form of slavery or just market laws at work? Drop a comment, let the delivery workers’ voices be heard!
