Horror in Split: Woman Held Demented Man as a Slave!
Imagine a horror movie scene, but this time it’s real and happening in the heart of Split! Police arrested a 43-year-old woman who held a 67-year-old demented man as a slave. Yes, you read that right – as a slave! This poor man was a prisoner in his own apartment, stripped of basic human rights.
How did this nightmare happen?
It all started when police received a tip about neglect of an elderly person. On July 3rd, with firefighters’ assistance, they entered the apartment and found the man in a state indicating prolonged physical and psychological exhaustion. Emergency medical aid was provided.
What did the woman do?
According to police reports, the woman abused the vulnerability of the demented man. She restricted his food, water, medication, medical care, freedom of movement, and even contact with the outside world. She had full economic control over his income. All to gain unjust financial benefit.
Punishment?
The law prescribes up to 10 years in prison for such criminal behavior. The woman was arrested on July 12th, and criminal charges were filed against her.
Why does this shock us?
Because such things should not happen in the 21st century, in a civilized society! How could someone live in such hell without anyone noticing earlier? This is a call for everyone to pay attention to their neighbors and elderly people in the community.
