Zagreb Assembly Decides on 13 Projects Worth 150 Million Euros

Imagine this – 13 major projects in Zagreb, worth around 150 million euros, are ready to get the green light from the city assembly! Yes, you read that right, 150 million euros! Out of that, 71 million euros will come from European funds, while the city of Zagreb will contribute about 79 million euros from its own budget. So, what do we get for this money? First and foremost, the reconstruction of the former industrial complex Paromlin, which will house a new city library and a socio-cultural center, worth a whopping 95 million euros! Of that, 40 million euros are secured from the European Regional Development Fund, and 55 million from the city budget. But wait, there’s more! Construction of a new school, OŠ Horvati, has started, worth 13.7 million euros, aiming to switch to single-shift schooling. There are also projects for the extension of OŠ Šestine, renovation of the Europa cinema, energy renovation of five social infrastructure buildings, and renovation of OŠ Matko Laginja, OŠ Luka, and the Leptir kindergarten. The total value of these projects is an impressive 10.8 million euros, with a significant share coming from European funds. Is this finally the big leap forward for Zagreb we’ve all been waiting for? Or will it all end up just on paper and promises? The mayor and city councilors now have the chance to prove if they know how to spend such a huge amount and if they are ready to improve education, culture, sports, and healthcare in Croatia’s capital. What do you think? Will these projects really change Zagreb or is this just another media story? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s optimistic and who’s skeptical!
