On Wednesday morning, a 30-year-old man driving a Volkswagen T-Cross without a seatbelt entered an intersection while the light was red. At the same time, a 29-year-old Portuguese driver in a Volkswagen Polo also ran a red light from the opposite direction. The result? A crash that looked like a scene from an action film.
After the collision, both vehicles spun around at the intersection. The T-Cross first hit a traffic light pole, then the rear of the Polo, and then a 49-year-old German pedestrian standing on the sidewalk. But the chaos didn’t stop there – the car continued uncontrollably, hitting a metal scaffold, the wall of a residential building, a parked truck, and finally stopped after crashing into a metal traffic control box.
Injuries? Of course!
The 49-year-old pedestrian and the 38-year-old truck driver were injured and taken to the Sisters of Mercy Clinical Hospital, fortunately with minor injuries. Were the drivers hurt? Reports don’t mention serious injuries, but the trauma and chaos they caused remain.
